Dr. Caixia Lan, DMD

Dr. Lan is known for a thoughtful, prevention-first approach that begins with listening. She wants patients to feel understood before decisions are made, especially when they arrive with specific smile goals, dental concerns, or uncertainty about what treatment they need. Her philosophy is simple and personal: treat patients as if they were her own family.

Education & Training

Dr. Lan received her first dental degree in Shanghai, China, building a strong foundation in dental medicine before continuing her career in the United States. After moving to the U.S., she advanced her dental education at Boston University, where she graduated with honors and earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree.

Her international and U.S. dental training gives her a broad clinical perspective and a clear appreciation for patient communication. Dr. Lan understands that strong dentistry is not only about teeth, gums, and treatment plans. It is also about trust, education, and helping patients understand how daily habits, prevention, and timely care protect long-term oral health.

Why Dentistry

Dr. Lan’s work is grounded in the belief that lasting oral health starts with prevention and patient understanding. She takes time to learn what each patient wants for their smile, then explains the steps needed to maintain health, prevent disease, or move toward a specific treatment goal. That listening-first style helps patients feel more confident and more in control of their dental care.

She also values the family-centered nature of dentistry. Patients bring different histories, concerns, and expectations to the chair, and Dr. Lan approaches those differences with patience and respect. At Redmond Way Dentistry, she has found a dental home with a team and patient community that match her commitment to careful, relationship-based care.

Languages & Patient Communication

Dr. Lan is fluent in English, Mandarin, and Taiwanese, which helps patients communicate clearly and comfortably about their dental health. For many patients, being able to describe symptoms, ask questions, and understand recommendations in a familiar language makes dental visits feel more accessible. Dr. Lan’s multilingual communication supports her prevention-focused approach, because patients make stronger decisions when they fully understand their options.

What to Expect at Your First Visit

A first visit with Dr. Lan is unhurried and focused on understanding both oral health and personal goals. New patients receive a comprehensive dental exam, digital X-rays when needed, periodontal screening, oral cancer screening, and a clear review of current concerns. Dr. Lan explains findings in straightforward language and discusses prevention, home care, and treatment options in a practical way. Patients leave with a clear plan for protecting their oral health and moving toward the smile they want.

Outside the Office

Dr. Lan moved to the Seattle area with her family and found her dental home at Redmond Way Dentistry. Outside the office, she enjoys hiking the beautiful Northwest trails, skiing, and discovering new restaurants. Her love of the region’s outdoor life and food scene reflects the same curiosity and connection she brings to caring for patients in Redmond.
