Pediatric Dentistry in Redmond, WA
A Calm, Friendly Place for Kids and Teens
Cleanings, fillings, sports guards, and orthodontic care for kids and teens. We take the time to make it feel ordinary.

Building a Lifetime of Healthy Smiles
Kids who grow up comfortable in the dental chair grow into adults who take care of their teeth. The way we introduce dental care to young patients shapes their relationship with their own oral health for decades. We slow down, explain what we are doing in language they understand, and let kids set the pace of their own visit when we can.
Because we are a family practice rather than a pediatric-only office, your child’s cleanings, cavities, sports guards, and orthodontic screening all happen in the same place — often on the same day you are seen yourself. Watching a child steadily over the years is also what lets us catch the small things early: cavities, alignment concerns, habits that affect jaw development, and the right timing for an orthodontic evaluation.

What We Provide for Children and Teens
Cleanings, exams, and preventive care
Routine visits are the backbone of pediatric care: a gentle cleaning and polish, a tooth-by-tooth exam, gum screening, digital X-rays only when they are needed, fluoride when appropriate, and sealants to protect the deep grooves of new molars where cavities usually start.
Fillings and restorative care
When a cavity does turn up, we treat it with tooth-colored composite rather than silver amalgam, and we take the time to explain what is happening in words a child can follow. Treating decay early in baby teeth matters more than parents often expect — those teeth hold space for the adult teeth coming in behind them.
Protecting teeth during sports
Custom sports guards fit better than anything from a sporting goods store, which is the whole reason kids actually keep them in. We remake them as your child grows.

Orthodontic screening and treatment
We screen for bite and alignment issues as part of routine exams from around age 7, and we offer pediatric orthodontics in-house when treatment is the right call.

Dental emergencies
Knocked-out teeth, chipped front teeth, and sports injuries do not wait for a convenient appointment. We hold time in the schedule every day, and a knocked-out adult tooth is most savable within the first hour.
What Happens at Your Child’s Appointment
- A friendly welcome and gentle introduction to the office
- Comprehensive exam, including tooth-by-tooth check
- Periodontal screening (gum health)
- Digital X-rays when needed, using the lowest dose required
- Gentle cleaning and polish
- Fluoride treatment when appropriate
- Bite and jaw evaluation, including early orthodontic screening
- Conversation with parents about findings, home care, and next steps
Ages and stages
We see children comfortably starting around age 3, depending on the child, and continue through the teen years. Many of our pediatric patients transition seamlessly into adult care with the same office once they finish school — same building, often the same hygienist.
When a pediatric specialist is the better choice
For infants and toddlers, and for children who would benefit from a specialized pediatric setting — sedation needs, complex behavioral or developmental considerations, or a complicated medical history — we refer to trusted pediatric dentists on the Eastside. We would rather send your child somewhere better suited than stretch to keep the appointment.

Pediatric Orthodontics
Early evaluation from around age 7, interceptive treatment when it genuinely helps, and Invisalign Teen when your child is ready for it.

Helping Your Child Have a Great Visit
- Keep the conversation positive and matter-of-fact at home; avoid words like “shot” or “hurt”
- Schedule the appointment for a time of day when your child is rested, not hungry or overtired
- Bring a familiar comfort item if it helps
- Let our team set the pace once we are in the room
- Praise the visit afterward, regardless of how it went
For kids who feel nervous
Some children need more time than others, and that is fine. We explain instruments before we use them, let kids hold or feel them when that helps, and stop when they ask us to. A visit where nothing got done but nothing went wrong is still a good visit — it makes the next one easier.
Building habits that stick at home
Brushing twice a day for two minutes, flossing once new teeth start touching, and keeping sugary drinks to mealtimes will do more for your child’s teeth than anything we do in the chair. We show kids the spots they are missing rather than just telling them to brush better.
Frequently Asked Questions
At what age should my child first see a dentist?
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends a first dental visit by age 1 or within six months of the first tooth. For very young children (infants and toddlers), we refer to trusted pediatric dental specialists in the area. We see children comfortably starting around age 3, depending on the child.
How often should my child have a cleaning?
Most kids do well with a cleaning and exam every six months. Some children with active cavity risk benefit from more frequent visits. Your dentist will recommend a schedule that fits your child.
Does my child need X-rays?
Not every visit. We follow guidelines from the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and take X-rays only when they are clinically needed, using the lowest dose required.
When should my child have an orthodontic evaluation?
Around age 7 is the standard recommendation. By that age, your dentist can identify problems with jaw development, crowding, or bite that are easier to address while your child is still growing. We do this screening as part of routine pediatric exams.
Is the office set up for nervous kids?
Yes. We work at your child’s pace, explain what we are doing in simple language, and let kids see and feel the tools beforehand when that helps. For children who would benefit from a specialized pediatric setting, we refer to trusted pediatric dentists on the Eastside.
Do you accept my dental insurance for kids?
We accept most major PPO dental plans. Call us at (425) 898-2168 and our team will verify your specific benefits.
Do you see teenagers?
Yes. We see children and teenagers through their teen years, and many of our pediatric patients transition seamlessly into adult care with the same office.
What if my child has a cavity?
We treat it here, with tooth-colored composite rather than silver amalgam. Cavities in baby teeth are worth treating rather than waiting for the tooth to fall out — those teeth hold space for the adult teeth coming in behind them, and an untreated cavity can become an infection.
Do you make sports guards for kids?
Yes, and we recommend one for any child or teen in a contact sport. A custom guard fits properly, which is the main reason kids actually keep it in. Because young mouths change as they grow, guards need remaking periodically — usually each season or as new teeth come in.
What should I do if my child knocks out a tooth?
Call us immediately at (425) 898-2168. For a knocked-out adult tooth, act within the first hour: pick it up by the crown rather than the root, rinse gently if dirty, and either place it back in the socket or store it in milk. Do not let it dry out. For a knocked-out baby tooth, do not reinsert it — call us and we will advise.
Do you use sealants?
Yes, when they are appropriate. Sealants are a thin protective coating applied to the deep grooves of new molars, where most childhood cavities begin. They are quick, painless, and require no drilling or numbing.
