Why Every Six Months
Twice-yearly visits are not an arbitrary interval. They are roughly how long it takes for a small problem to become a noticeable one — which is the entire reason the schedule exists.

- Early detection. Cavities and gum disease are painless in their early stages. By the time something hurts, the inexpensive window has usually closed.

How often should I come in?
Every six months for most people. That interval exists because it is roughly how long a small problem takes to become a noticeable one. Patients with gum disease or a high cavity risk often benefit from more frequent visits — we will tell you honestly which applies to you.
What happens at a first visit?
A comprehensive exam including a tooth-by-tooth check and gum screening, digital X-rays where needed, and usually a cleaning if your gum health allows it the same day. You will see the images we see, hear what we found in plain language, and leave with a written plan and cost estimate before anything is scheduled.
I haven’t been to a dentist in years. Is that a problem?
It is more common than you would think, and it is not something we lecture people about. The point of a first visit back is to understand where things stand, not to review how you got here. We go at your pace, and if anxiety is part of it, oral sedation is available.
Does a cleaning hurt?
For most people, no. If you have sensitivity, tender gums, or a lot of buildup after a long gap between visits, tell your hygienist — there is plenty we can do to make it comfortable, including numbing the area.
How can I prevent cavities?
Brush twice a day for two minutes, floss daily, keep sugary and acidic drinks to mealtimes rather than sipping through the day, and keep your routine cleanings. Fluoride treatments and sealants add real protection for patients who are cavity-prone.

What if I can’t afford the treatment I need?
Tell us. We can usually sequence treatment so the urgent work happens first and the rest follows over time, and CareCredit financing is available. What we will not do is pretend a cost is not a factor — a plan you cannot follow through on is not a good plan.
Do you see children?
Yes. We see children comfortably starting around age 3, through the teen years, with the same unhurried approach. For infants and toddlers, or children who would do better in a specialized pediatric setting, we refer to trusted pediatric dentists on the Eastside.
What should I do in a dental emergency?
Call (425) 898-2168 right away. We hold time in the schedule every day for emergencies and triage every call, so the most urgent cases are seen first. Most emergencies are seen the same day, especially if you call early in the morning.
Do you offer sedation?
Yes — oral sedation, taken as a prescribed pill before your appointment. It is a good option for patients with significant dental anxiety, a strong gag reflex, or several treatments being combined into one longer visit.
